Kara Walker's first public art work "Marvelous Sugar Baby" delivers exactly such a rush.

The sphinx-like confection sits in silence in the deserted Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn. Her expression is mysterious. Her dimensions, humbling.

Turning simple white sugar into high art and an abandoned industrial space into a sanctuary, Walker inspires you to look at things a little differently.
